The 5 Best Free Coworking Spaces in Zurich

It’s somewhat surprising for such an expensive city, but Zurich has great free coworking spaces that are available for you to use. Not only do two of these spaces also offer free coffee and tea, but all five locations are beautiful spaces providing outlets and wifi for you to work.

1. Büro Züri: work for free on the main street

With its prime location on Zurich’s Bahnhofstrasse, right next to the Kantonalbank tram stop, Büro Züri is the most central and easily accessible free coworking space in Zurich.

Not only is it right next door to the buttery breads of neighbouring John the Baker, but Büro Züri’s friendly staff will also be happy to provide you with coffee, tea and water. And sometimes there are even free brownies to snack on!

If you’d like to reserve a desk, it’s best to do so at least a week in advance, as Saturday desks fill up quickly.

2. Credit Suisse Europaallee: coworking right by the train station

At six of its branches in Switzerland, Credit Suisse offers a free coworking space for the general public. Not in Zurich? Well, then you can use visit one of the other branches with free coworking, in Geneva, Gstaad, Lugano, Bern, or St. Gallen.

The Zurich branch is located at Europaalle, just outside the main train station. It is the perfect place to work for a few hours. Moreover, the kind staff are happy to provide you with free coffee to help you work.

3. Work in style at the boutique B2 hotel

While it’s not as conveniently located as the first two options, the B2 Hotel makes up for it with its amazing interior space. Feel inspired while you work, surrounded by the 33,000 books that the hotel has collected in their library bar.

The B2 Hotel has transformed the hotel lobby into a lovely, warm coworking space. To access the space, simply walk through the main doors of the hotel and just opposite the hotel lobby on your right, you will find available tables, couches, and high tables equipped with power outlets.

It’s not possible to reserve a space in advance, but there is usually plenty of space available.

4. Join the students at the University of Zurich Law Library

The Law Library of the University of Zurich is an impressive workspace with over 550 study desks. Designed to let in plenty of sunlight, the library is also open to the public.

You can either turn up without booking and use the rooms on the 1st and 4th floors of the library, or you can reserve a room on the 5th and 6th floors here.

Be warned that the library fills up quickly during exam periods in early summer, with law students queuing outside waiting for the library to open.

5. Soul City: the coworking space for aspiring yogis

Ok ok, so this one is technically not free, but it is one of my favourite places in Zurich. Soul City is the perfect place to combine a yoga class with a study session in a relaxed, communal space.

The café-style setting is perfect for those who like to work in coffee shops, but with the advantage that the space is limited to just 10 people. A private room can also be booked.

Only open on Thursdays, costs CHF 15 for a full day. This gives you access to water and tea, and you can also use the communal kitchen to make yourself a snack. You can also join a yoga class with one of the talented teachers and receive a 5 CHF discount.
